The holiday season is the time of year when we are most reminded about the importance of giving. Van Heusen asked me, and all of you, what we #GiveAShirt about. It’s a question that makes you think more fundamentally about life: what do I care about in life? For me, a very big part are people; my family, my friends, but even strangers on the street. I give a shi(r)t about all these people, because in the end, we’re all happier if we have at least the tendency towards altruistic behavior. But the campaign is more than just thought provoking, it actually aims to do good:

Van Heusen donates one shirt per hashtag #GiveAShirt used, to an institution that helps people get back on their feet, dresses individuals for interviews and hopefully allows them to get their life back. I think it’s a great initiative, because the right to follow your path is definitely a part of fulfilling your purpose. More than 10,000 of those hashtags have already been used! And as if doing good isn’t reason enough to start tagging, if you also tag a friend, you are automatically entered to win a shirt yourself, given away on a daily basis, with the Grand Prize being a trip to New York for a football experience!!!
