You may have already seen in years past a crop of moustaches sprouting up right after Halloween. There’s a good reason for the spontaneous hirsuteness: since 2003 the Movember Foundation has been helping raise awareness and funds for men’s health. Because nothing seems to spark a conversation like a gnarly moustache, what began as two guys with an idea in Australia has become a global phenomenon raising $710 million for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention.
These are decidedly unsexy topics, but ones which demand our attention. Most of us know someone who has been affected by cancer and know the heartbreak it brings with it. This November we can fight back.
Since I can’t grow a moustache, I’ll be partaking in Movember by participating in the Move challenge (also maybe flashing a finger-stache at opportune moments). There are plenty of ways to take part in Movember – whether or not you are follicularly challenged. You can host an event to raise money, take the Move challenge to push yourself physically while raising funds, or donate directly to Movember. Express makes it easy to show your support by sporting one of their limited edition Movember T’s.
Here I’m sporting Express’ handlebar graphic T with Express skinny jeans and a faux-suede jacket that’s great for these cooler days. Express make it easy to put together a polished Fall wardrobe for work or sophisticated play.
Let’s help put an end to cancer together. Visit Movember.com for more information on how you can help make a difference.
