Le Burgundy, Paris (Post by Lisa Dengler of just-another.me)

Now that August is officially over, and we can assume all Parisiennes are, in fact, back in Paris, I feel as though I can finally share a little more detail of our little getaway trip. I would, for future reference, advise against visiting in August as the city practically shuts down. Many of the good restaurants are closed because everyone is on holiday, fashion offices are also closed… basically everything not related to tourism in the slightest sense is just plain not open, something I was not aware of until actually going. Whoops! But there are so many amazing things about Paris, even in August. For one, Paris is obviously still as beautiful as always. But also, the hotels, oh the beautiful and luxurious Paris hotels, notably Le Burgundy where Marcel and I had the immense pleasure of staying for 4 far-too-short days.

First and foremost, I need to tell you about the location, which couldn’t possibly be better. Right in the center of the first district, a 30 second walk up from Rue Saint-Honoré (an amazing shopping street), and a 2-minute walk to the Jardin des Tuileries (the most beautiful gardens you’ve ever been in) (#1 above). It’s also parallel to Rue Cambon, where Coco Chanel opened her first shop  (#3). Notable in walking distances are also the &otherstories Paris store (#5), a Ladurée café (#2), Place Vendôme (where we took some gorgeous backlit outfit photos) (#4), delicious Vietnamese and Korean restaurants, a Colette shop (#6), and every designer store you could possibly ever wish for.

Upon arrival, doors were thrown wide open, luggage was then whisked away, and a tour was given of the hotel, from the bar and lounge and restaurant area, down to the spa and pool area, and then up to our hotel. Candles were lined along hallways and staircases, giving a beautiful warm light and feeling, which was projected throughout the hotel in various ways. Everything exuded an inherit feeling of wealth, in a very friendly way. Up to our gorgeous one bedroom deluxe room we went, complete with a bath and shower (one of my favorite things in a hotel), the most comfortable bed you’ll ever sleep in, fashion and design books that will keep you inspired for days, and a cute view into an interior courtyard, meaning we were able to sleep like babies (as if the comfortable bed wasn’t enough).

The next few days we were treated like royalty (or so I assume how the royalty are treated), with little chocolates appearing like magic on a daily basis, always accompanied by a little note that told us how the weather would be the next day. Water bottles also refilled themselves, together with ice in our ice bucket. The buffet breakfast in the mornings was delicious, with foods ranging from salmon to various deli meats to cheeses to fruit to yogurt (did you see our instagram photos?), always accompanied by excellent coffee and delicious freshly squeezed orange juice (this French tradition of fresh orange juice in the morning needs to exist in every place in the world). Live piano music in the late afternoons in the foyer, late night drinks in the lounge, Paris would have still been amazing even if we had never left our hotel.

So if you’re planning on visiting Paris anytime soon, which I would definitely recommend if you have the chance, you’ll be doing yourself a favor by checking out Le Burgundy, because it really doesn’t get any better than this.
