Mostly Heard, Rarely Seen

I’ve been blogging for 5 years now and being so involved in the fashion industry, it’s surprisingly nice when you stumble upon brands that you haven’t heard of — completely accidentally. About two weeks ago I was shopping around on Farfetch and several pieces stood out to me, all from the same brand: Mostly Heard, Rarely Seen. MHRS is essentially a reflection of the street culture that thrives in Tokyo and Hong Kong and their unique yet not too “in-your-face” designs grabbed my attention. So I order this beautiful zip-up hoodie in navy: 1. ’cause I love navy. 2. ’cause I fell for the patterned patch pockets on the front and both sleeves.

As I was headed to London for Men’s Fashion Week, I decided this hoodie was gonna be a perfect base for a look. I grabbed a button-down shirt to wear underneath and contrast the hoodie stylistically, and a pair of dressy joggers which bridges the gap in-between the styles while brightening the look. A pair of navy and black weatherproof sneakers from North 89 tied the colors together, and I finished the look off with a Tommy Hilfiger beanie to make it a bit more street again — and to keep my ears warm. New York might be colder but it’s still freezing here.

There’s just something about fashion week that makes me wanna push the limits of my personal style a bit, time and time again. I think surrounding yourself with what’s to come, getting a glimpse of “the future” makes you want to reinvent yourself. Those moments are really important I think, for anybody, not just people in the fashion industry. We need to stop, take a look around and consciously decide to leave our comfort zone in order to develop our style — and ourselves as a whole for that matter, fashion aside for a second. So I encourage you to challenge yourselves, your limits and push the boundaries to keep improving.
