The look: Denim Jacket – Topman // Tee – BDG at Urban Outfitters // Jeans – Buffalo by David Bitton // Shoes – Converse // Hat – Amongst Friends
Casual Fridays are a relatively recent development, yet we see them disappearing slowly but surely. During the dot-com bubble in the 90s and early 2000s, businesses in America and Canada introduced Casual Fridays. This west coast inspired trend was supposed to increase employees’ morale by allowing them to deteriorate from the regular shirt-suit-tie-combo. It was a huge success and became an integrated part of most institutions’ Fridays. Lately, as menswear has been evolving faster and we see a trend towards “dressing up” again, people choose to still wear a suit on Fridays. I think it’s marvelous, and wish I had more occasions to wear suits to (and more suits). Even at a fashion school, people will look at you semi-weird if you wear a suit – after all it is college. Ha. Nevertheless, sticking to the good ol’ days, I went casual…
Heavy in pastels, I combined my BDG tee with a yellow contrast chest pocket, with my oh-so-diverse denim jacket. Following the denim on denim trend, I wore my new and fantastic Buffalo Jeans. Great fit, quality and finish, if you ask me. Then, I busted out my pale green Chucks, to add on to the pastel-idea. Lastly, going with the animal print trend, I wore my leopard hat – a gift from one of my best friends (which was especially nice since the brand is called “Amongst Friends” … ha).
Whatever you decide to do on a Friday – pastels will work this season, dressed up or down.
what a great taste!
