Finally wrapping up my selects from PROJECT SOLE with this one, lastly sharing my favorite dress shoes with you. From the classics, to fun and updated details and modernized versions of their classic predecessors. As a little take-away: I think it’s safe to say that mixing media and tonal differentiation are major players this upcoming fall 2014. Sit back, relax, and let’s see what we got here:
The first one goes to Dr. Scholl’s, a footwear brand which keeps on surprising with their updated take on men’s footwear. Ever since my Opus boots, I have a completely different view on Dr. Scholl’s, one that is a lot younger, more stylish and so much trendier. This multi-medium saddle speaks volumes.
Greenwich Vintage Co. So excited to introduce you to this brand. This is the only shoe in their collection, which is absolutely on point with a camo basis and orange highlights all around. Great choice of colors that go together without complications. But for the moment, Greenwich Vintage Co. is known for the below:
The company resoles shoes! An absolutely genius idea now that we’re seeing loads of loud and colorful ones on the streets every day. You send in any shoe of yours, they rip ’em apart and put new ones on. They can save a dying shoes life or just increase the swag-level of any other pair you’d like.
Marco Vicci is the child of a large footwear manufacturing company, who decided if it can make shoes for others, why not make their own brand. If you look above, you’ll get why they would want to invest in that. Beautifully selected colors on this gorgeous long wing. My favorite detail is the stacked sole.
Johnston & Murphy – a classic company. In the business for quite a while by now. With a monk straps like this one, it is not surprising. Terrific wood sole to contrast the greenish black of the top. Brogueing all around and one strap with a silver buckle. Classy.
I have already mentioned The Northern Cobbler before, but wanted to include them again for this two-toned suede-and-leather wingtip with alternative lacing. Had to include it. Want to own it.
Bravissimo Cole Haan. Wow. Woven leather tassel loafer. Beautiful shape, beautiful color, 100%, A+.
I have also already talked about Trask in one of the previous posts – again we have a two-toned saddle, combining leather and suede and very subtly integrating camo.
Lastly we have this beaut from Roberto Cavalli. A classic, black dress-shoe, but the transition is laced, not stitched. Wonderful update without making it too crazy to wear it classically with a suit.
