Today, it’s all about what’s on top. I put together a few looks for you guys focusing solely on the upper body – the idea is to highlight some fantastic outerwear and great fall/winter pieces, which is what PROJECT Vegas was all about.
I’M WEARING: Jacket (Brave Gentleman) / Shirt (Brave Gentleman)
I’M WEARING: Sweater-Shirt (Brave Gentleman) / Vest (Brave Gentleman)
Starting off with two grungy options that take one’s breath away, we have Brave Gentleman, winner of the “Fan-Favorite” Blogger Award, with their debut collection. The jacket, as well as the vest, sweater and shirt combine perfected classics with some updates like the collar-detail of the shirt. Brave Gentleman is most definitely one to watch, especially since all their pieces are recycled and vegan – that’s what I call sustainable in a business and environmental sense.
Speaking of emerging brands – Grungy Gentleman is out with his first ever collection. The core collection consists of several basics including hoodies and crew-necks (like I’m wearing here) in a few different colors. The fabric is absolutely dope and it adds a streets-y vibe to any look, even if worn under a blazer. The blazer itself is from a collaboration, which GG was known to do even before their own debut.
I’M WEARING: Jacket (Billtornade) / Shirt (Billtornade)
I’M WEARING: Coat (Billtornade) / Shirt (Billtornade)
Moving away from America for a moment, we have Billtornade from France with a few amazing pieces. My personal favorite is the shearling jacket with the short stripe-detail, but the double-breasted overcoat surely makes a statement also, in the riffled dark navy fabric. They’re a men’s-only brand from Paris and are on the verge of grungy and dapper.
Last, but absolutely not least, we have three looks from Quinn. I am stunned by their ability to create super-modern pieces, without looking too futuristic; it just looks right. Interesting details like the leather on the lower third of the cardigan; great fabrics like the one of the vest, or the mix of suede and fabric in the last sweater really make this brand something special. In the second look I threw over another “throw” from Faribault, like I did in NYC – I just love those things -and in the last I accessorized with beautiful black shades that have a tortoise pattern on the inside, and a stunning croc-leather man-clutch from Ben Minkoff.
