Stand up, suit up!

I’M WEARING: Suit (Indochino) / Shirt (Eton) / Tie (Van Heusen) / Derby Wingtips (Aldo) / Watch (Coach) / Tie Bar (The Tie Bar)

Anzüge sind nicht nur für besondere Anlässe. Und auch nicht nur für Banker im Büro. Und müssen erst recht nicht blau, schwarz oder grau sein. Können? – Ja. Müssen? – Keinesfalls. Anzüge sind die Essenz der männlichen Mode-Industrie und das, so wie wir sie kennen, schon seit Jahrzehnten. In der Entwicklung der Industrie haben wir irgendwo unsere Kreativität verloren: Anzüge sind hier um sie zu tragen, weil man sie tragen möchte, nicht weil man muss, und man kann mit ihnen genau so viel Spaß haben wie mit jeglichen anderen Outfits. Warum das ganze Gefasel? Weil ich hier einen Creme-Grau-gestreiften Seersucker Anzug trage und ich nicht der einzige bin der Anzüge trägt die ein bestimmtes Auftreten verlangen. Und wisst ihr was? Den Leuten gefällt es. Man muss es eben nur mit einer gewissen Selbstsicherheit tragen. Also traut euch und probiert was Neues! Etwas stark kontrastiert, habe ich mich hier für ein dunkel-blaues Hemd und eine gleichfarbige Krawatte entschieden und dazu Cognacfarbene Schuhe getragen.

Suits aren’t just for special occasions. And they aren’t just for Wall Street guys. And they definitely don’t have to be navy, black or gray. Can they? – Yes. Do they have to? – Absolutely not. Suits are the essence of the male fashion industry, and they have been, the way we know them, for many decades now. Somewhere along the way to the present we lost our creativity: suits are here to be worn, because you want to wear them, not because you have to, and you can have just as much fun with them, as you can with any other outfit. Why am I ranting about this? Well, I’m wearing a cream-gray-stripd seersucker suit and I’m not the only one who’s wearing suits that demand a certain presence when wearing them. And you know what? People love it. You just have to wear them with a certain self-assurance. So go out, dare to be dandy and try something new! I contrasted the light suit rather starkly, with a navy shirt and a knit tie in the same color, then finished it off with cognac colored shoes.
