2014 in Pictures

What an amazing year. It may well have been the best of my life until this point. And not because I wasn’t having phenomenal years before, merely because this one was HUGE for me. To give you the most accurate snapshot, I divided this post into categories, with four of my favorite pictures each, all from 2014 — enjoy! 🙂

OUTFITS

Of course, 2014 was all about fashion for me. Not only on the blog, but it was also my last year studying Fashion Merchandising Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology, here in the city. The four outfits below nicely show off why I called my blog “One Dapper Street”, and are simultaneously some of your favorites on Instagram, based in the interaction they got.
From “Dapper” to “Street”: top left, most definitely a dapper look, coated, shirted, layered and tied, while the top right shows off a more casual styling of a suit. The bottom left is a lot more relaxed, a casual summer style in sneakers and jeans, while the bottom right goes all the way to the opposite end of the spectrum, with drop-crotch chinos and Marshall’s headphones. Of course there were hundreds of other looks, which I hope you enjoyed just as much, and I am looking forward to many more outfits in the new year.

MOMENTS

Aside from the outfits, I am of course also living my life like any other person does, and these are some of my favorite moments: Germany won the World Cup (‘SCHLAND!!) on the same day I noticed that the German flag, and thus my outfit, resemble Walt Disney’s classic character Mickey Mouse. It was a proud day as a German, a former soccer player no less!
Next up is my bro Maxwell Coombs and I at Radegast, a German beergarden in Williamsburg, before everybody else arrived for the celebration of my 23rd birthday this year. I love this man like a brother, and it meant the world to me that he was there for me, and always is, at my best and worst. Plus: I love Radegast. It’s like a little German haven 😉
Although I’m diving into travel a little more below, one of my absolute favorite moments this year was my first Muay Thai Kickboxing lesson overlooking Bangkok. ‘Nuff said.
Last but not least, I finally arrived home just a few days ago to a snowy Christmas. This is after I graduated from college and am returning home the last time, before I start living life on my own two feet. A big move, and I’m super excited for 2015. Got lots of awesome things coming for you!

TRAVEL

If you’ve followed me here or on social media this year, you may know that I was lucky enough to travel to some awesome spots in 2014. Lisa and I went to Peru for PeruModa, but we also had the chance to visit Macchu Pichu as you can see in the picture on the top left. It really is a gorgeous country, and we’d love to go back to explore it some more… soooo to be continued 😛
Thailand may have been even more impactful: an entirely different culture, my first time in the Asian region, and holy crap… the experiences I’ve made were insane: from riding water buffalos, to shopping at floating markets, to kayaking, mountain climbing, snorkeling with fishes and watching gorgeous sunsets — Thailand had it all and so much more. Yearning to go back to Asia. ASAP.
The last photo in the collage is from Lisa and my road-trip from San Fran to LA this summer, right after we experienced parts of Nevada. Getting to know the country you’re in, especially if it’s as large and gorgeous as the United States, is just as amazing as exploring abroad …

Places of 2014

NEW YORK CITY

… and this (even more especially) holds true for this city. New York City. My new home. Now in my fourth year here, I’ve gotten around to explore the city more, less “distracted” or otherwise preoccupied, I’ve come to truly know and love many places, went to my first show at Radio City, and even looked down upon New Yorkers hurriedly strutting down 8th Avenue, with my feet dangling freely over their heads. I love you NYC, and I’m not afraid to say it!!!

PEOPLE

Of course, none of these experiences would have been the same without amazing people surrounding me. New friends I’ve made, old friends with whom I finally had reunited, and strong friendships that grew even stronger. People from all over the world, most of which shared one obsession: fashion. This includes all of you as well, being part of my journeys and moments, making them count for so much more! THANK YOU!

People of 2014

(MY) LISA

And speaking of people that made this year amazing: the biggest role is most certainly played by my companion, fellow blogger, roommate, photographer, and the woman I love: Lisa Dengler. None of this would’ve been as amazing if you were not there to share it with me, in (almost 😉 all moments. Thank you for being a part of my life, and for making me get up every morning, striving to be the best man I can be for you, for myself and for the world out there. I am ecstatic about starting a new year with you.

So this is it, this was 2014, as I said, it was a great one. But then again, there’s things we can be appreciative of and thankful for every single day on this planet. So I have absolutely no doubts that 2015 will lack anything that 2014 had 😉

Thank you all, and don’t forget to
