In Cape Town with Louis Vuitton

It’s not every day, that Louis Vuitton emails you and invites you to come take some photos in Cape Town, South Africa. Definitely. Not. Every. Day. So much not every day, that it is actually one of my biggest career milestones, that I was super excited to be a part of. Even though I got sick the day I landed in Cape Town, I still managed to make it out of bed for all of our shoots, but then straight back to bed afterwards.. So worth it though. Let me walk you through it look by look.

On the first day we made it to one of the poorer areas of Cape Town, that used to be really bad (think Bronx, NY) but have gotten a lot better and made for awesome backdrops. Above, we found a cool bridge for the look I was wearing: navy overcoat, a military green shirt, and khaki pants with an excellent zipper detail down the back of both legs. The matching accessories are absolutely stunning, with the classic LV print, and the abstract lion artwork printed on it.

Just around the corner, my good friend Marc (@marcforne) and I found the perfect spot to shoot our matching outfits. Palm trees, harsh shadows, and a minimal backdrop that keeps the outfits in focus. The clothes themselves look like we could go on the fanciest safari I can imagine, with a dash of military, making for a really cool look for two dudes to wear at the same time. Like fashion soldiers on safari or something. In a good way though. I think.

Easily my favorite location though, were the Atlanis Dunes. I’d been dreaming of desert shots, and I think we got some amazing ones. I decided to wear a window-pane suit, because I liked the abstract contrast of a suit in a desert, but then made the look a little bit more appropriate with my own hat, a scarf I bought at a local store, and Louis Vuitton lace-up desert boots.

One night (when I actually made it out of bed) we went to a beautiful private Villa the LV team had booked for dinner, with incredibly stunning views, and equally stunning threads. I was careful with mixing two different monograms, but in the end decided that they worked together, while the suede bomber jacket was so beautiful I didn’t even wanna take it back off.

We also went to the cut-off highway, where we needed a special permit to even shoot there in the first place. It was honestly a little bit hard capturing the cut-off part, though really cool in person, but the mere idea of shooting on an empty high-way sufficed for this sick double-breasted suit, casually worn unbuttoned with a silk printed shirt underneath.

Lastly we have a couple more shots from the desert, the last one easily being the most “experimental” shot of the bunch, but there was something about the locket necklace I just wanted to try, so I embraced the feel of it, dropped the shirt, hat, scarf and boots, and went rogue.

And that about sums it all up.
