On the Island

The first time I ever laid eyes on a Barbour jacket was back at home in Germany inside the apartment I grew up in. My stepdad had a classic quilted Barbour jacket, and based on what I knew about him, I instantly knew what Barbour stood for: class, luxury, heritage. I look up to my step-dad in many ways, so I’ve held the brand in high regard, and I’m proud to announce them as the sponsor for today’s post.

Aside from the iconic quilted jacket, I’m a huge fan of Barbour shirts. They have this inherent feel of luxury combined with wearability, incredibly in-tune with the Fall/ Winter mood, well-fitted and easily combined. Since we’re approaching the colder season, these couldn’t come at a better time. Here I combined a speckled button down, underneath a navy jacket, rocked a pair of raw denim jeans with it and finished it off with a pair of Chelsea boots.

If you ask me, corduroy is one of those fabrics that require the piece of clothing to have an impeccable fit, otherwise it quickly looks like you borrowed it from your Grampa. Not that there’s anything wrong with that in general, but if you’re looking for a clean, modern look, you want to do it with something like this tailored Barbour shirt right here: the color is perfect for the transitional days, bright enough to catch your eye, but dark enough to blend into the fall colors; a perfect medium weight that makes it a great layering piece; and the luxurious feel of the fabric, comfortable and seasonally appropriate.

I decided to pair it with a black jacket (with the editing it’s hard to make out the difference between the first — very dark navy — and second black jacket, but there is one!) and a pair of black specs to give it a bit more of an “educated” look, ha. I matched the watch and boots with the black as well, and wore a pair of tan cargos from my own collection to brighten up the look a bit, we’re still at the very beginning of the transition after all 😉
