Paradise Awaits

Summer is here, and where could it possibly be better spent than Hawaii… six short hours away from LAX awaits paradise, with palm trees, salt water, sand beaches and pina coladas. The beauty of Honolulu is that none of this comes at a price — you still get to feel like you’re in a big city (because you are) with hundreds of shops, a million people and virtually anything you might miss from the mainland. Honolulu is the location for today’s post, and I’m wearing a head-to-toe Express look, my partner for today’s post.

As I mentioned, Honolulu is diverse in that it’s the fusion of the two worlds, so I need a look take could work in both of them. I started out with a pair of simple and clean, micro-check shorts. An easy summer staple, even for a guy who doesn’t necessarily love shorts (, like me). Shorts and I aren’t the best of friends, but these are stretchy, versatile, and nicely fitted in a way even I can wrap my head around, so it’s a ‘Go!’ from me.

Equally essential this summer, a minimalistic pair of white kicks, which couldn’t be more perfect to give the shorts sporty feel. The benefits of sneakers are obvious: hour-long shopping sprees get significantly less painful, and the benefits of wearing shoes… well: you can take them off when you don’t need them anymore. Like on the beach. I know, I know, I’m still wearing mine, but I guess it’s up to you whether or not you wanna keep them on. I for one have a love-hate relationship with sand, so I kept them on.

To make the look a bot more interesting, or rather a bit more complex, I didn’t opt for a white top, but rather went for a striped henley. The light colors, breathable fabric, and relaxed views make it the perfect choice for the summer, and this look, picking up the colors of the shorts and rounding out the white and blue theme. I finished the look off with a pair of navy shades, and felt more than ready to tackle the streets and beaches of Honolulu.
