Take three of the PROJECT SOLE selects, now moving on to boots for the next Fall/ Winter season. A selection of boots of all sorts, from desert to double-monk. Overall, we have quite the traditional color scheme with browns, blues and blacks for the most part. Boot for boot, let’s analyze:
Starting it off with Cole Haan, we have a classic brown suede boot. With men’s shoes, I often find there aren’t too many “different” things out there, without being too crazy. Therefore, a boot needs to be absolutely immaculate to stand out – this one is. From silhouette, to color, to contrasting sole – this one’s a beaut.
A second select from Cole Haan is this gorgeous ankle-high double-monk, with a delicate brogueing on the toes. The deep chocolate color give the boots a luxurious vibe, yearning for a gentlemen to rock them. Again clean and simple lines – just on point.
Trask, owned by parent company Johnston & Murphy, has been around for a long time, and now has been revived. The experienced leather goods company offers this terrific deep navy blue desert boot. It’s all in the details here, with slightly brighter blue stitching, the different colors in the transition to the sole, and the leather patch on the Achilles Heel.
So many designs now are combining fabric and leather in a patchy way, and Modern Vintage knows how. This boot caught my attention, with the broken herringbone twill patch contrasting an otherwise so uncomplicated shoe. I’m also digging the rubber sole on this one.
The Northern Cobbler has this option for a black boot. The basis is a chelsea boot, but with a strap slung around the ankle part, and a contemporary sole, which almost looks like a chainsaw. You already know, you won’t be slipping with that much traction.
7 for all mankind has another fantastic option for a black boot with a twist: alternative lacing really is the key term here, with the shoe laces running up the sides of the boot, but the actual “lacing” capability remaining with the zipper in the front middle.
Dr. Scholl’s Opus boot – I’ve been in love with it since I had them in my dark brown, and now they’re coming out with an updated color and a slightly different texture. These shoes speak for themselves.
My pair of All Black shoes had me fall in love with their design for the soles, and it stays true, also for the new collection. I think the white sole is absolutely awesome, and – of course – so is the rest of the shoe.
This guy up here is from Wolverine’s 1000 mile collection, and I thought it was quite refreshing to see a wingtip with an extra wing, and without brogueing. Also the deep cognac color makes it a great pair to be worn with raw denim jeans!
Lastly, a brown two-toned suede chelsea boot from Ben Sherman. Dark and milk chocolate together, perfectly separated in terms of location and with the buckle on the back of the heel – this may be the first chelsea boot I personally have fallen in love with.
