I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The root of style is appropriateness for any given situation you’ll find yourself in. What does that mean? Well, if your day consists of business meetings, coffee dates, and ideally some play time for yourself (please don’t read any innuendo into this.. lol) then your outfit better be ready for it. Versatility is the key to a stylish look throughout the day.
In today’s post I partnered with Express to show you guys what exactly I mean, using a day in my life as the red thread. I love LA for many reasons: driving cars, excellent coffee, bright and colorful walls, and riding skateboard, which I recently made more of a habit, just to name a few. Any given day I’ll hop in the car, and head out to a few business meetings. With a blazer, a casual shirt, white pants and sneakers I’m well prepped for that. Needless to say, this is dependent on the fact that I work in a creative industry. If you’re a banker, that won’t fly, but I’m sure you guys can assess yourself whether this applies to you or not.
Even if it doesn’t though, this is still a great look for heading out to the dopest coffee spot you know in your area and getting some work done with the help of caffeine. Do you need to be dressed up for that? No. But you can. And in my experience I actually work better when I’m dressed well, going back to my idea that the right attire can boost your ego and confidence, and influence your entire approach to any given day.
The best thing about this look, and what makes it so versatile is that the white chinos are stretchy, so even hopping on a skateboard is not an issue, especially when it’s matching the pants perfectly, like it is in this case.
Lastly, and let’s be completely real here: yes, my job is posting photos on Instagram and my blog. But we all know that Instagram life, don’t we? So being dressed in a look that works with a poppy real wall, as well as a dope young timer you walk by, definitely comes in handy for the perfect IG post 😉
