… aaand FYI: I’m 6’2″, with a skinny, athletic body-type, wearing a true US10 or EU43.
“One for One.” That’s always been the idea behind the wonderfully philanthropic TOMS brand. Over 45 million shoes have been given to children in need, and more than 325,000 people had their sight restored, thanks to TOMS footwear and eyewear, which makes it a great pleasure to announce that we’ve partnered with TOMS to spread the word even farther.
Lisa and I picked out our favorite TOMS pieces and went on a little road trip upstate last weekend. I stepped into the car wearing beautiful herringbone wingtip derbies. The fabric of the shoe as well as the sole make it ultra comfortable, and a perfect shoe for a car ride. Style is never secondary, especially if you’re still running a couple of errands before the trip, another reason I wanted to wear these for the ride. I wore them with a pair of dark jeans and a super soft T-shirt (duh), layered a checked shirt over it and topped it off with a touring jacket matching the color of the shoes. If you drive you know you need a good pair of shades, and these are, for one, polarized, but also crazy cool. Big fan of clip on shades right here. So off we went, making a few stops along the way, falling in love with the yellow, red and orange colored leaves along the way.
The colors really made an impact once we’d made it up Bear Mountain: after an invigorating hike, we took in the view, and we felt like we were at the heart of the fall season. The boots I’m wearing were more equipped for the action than I thought. Both Lisa and I had much more traction than we thought we’d have, which made the hike incredibly easy. Beyond its functionality, the black leather boot is just beautiful: deep black, slender silhouette, with wonderfully placed stitching. With a pair of cargo pants, a sweater to keep me warm underneath, and a waxed jacket to keep away any weather surprises, I was in good shapes. Necessarily so: while we were up there some sort of snow-hail-storm-cloud passed by. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It didn’t last longer than three minutes, and it was sunny pretty much the entire time. I tried to capture it, let me know if it comes out — also take a look at Lisa’s pictures, maybe those show it better. Anyway, with the TOMS backpack we were well-equipped for the little trip and slowly made our way to the Bear Mountain Inn.
Once arrived, we decided to kick it back for a little, lounging in all-knit-everything, from blazer to polo to the pants I’m wearing. We hung out inside for a little bit, since the wood-leather chairs just looked too inviting, but after a while we decided to go outside to explore the lake we had noticed upon arrival. The grey desert boots were a perfect match for the outfit, and lent themselves nicely for our little discovery trip. Fire places, wooden benches and again, colorful trees all around made it a great end to a wonderful day, before we headed back the next morning.
