Getting Connected

Honestly, I usually wear my watches for purely aesthetic reasons. I travel quite a bit, switch watches often, and thus rarely have them set at the right time, so it’s just another accessory to me, and my phone tells me what time it is. Kenneth Cole sent me this watch to play around with, and I spent some time with it over the weekend… and I gotta say: the functionality of this watch is pretty bomb! Let’s take a look at a few of its abilities:

On Friday I was still wrapping up work, working on some expenses, and writing e-mails, partly internationally, and this is where one of the more basic functions comes in super-handy: world time. More than a dozen different important locations are available, and they show up right underneath your home base so you can compare the time difference. So if you frequently work with another office in London for example, you can stop the headache of the calculations 😉

Something more advanced than that is the “Find my phone” function, which I am an absolute sucker for. The amount of times I believe I lost my phone is horrendous. Once your phone is connected, an easily initiated function sets your phone’s alarm of, and voila — you may now retrieve the phone from the crack in the couch.

On Saturdays I like to get active, and since the weather has been getting nice, I love taking my bike for a ride. Clearly, you gotta keep tabs on the time, and how long you’ve been going at it, and a fun feature of the watch let’s you check that in spelled out words. You don’t have to set it that way, but I really like it!

As I said, getting active on Saturdays, so here’s me doing some planks and stuff. Two things I want to point out here: while this particular watch works great with a dapper look, it still looks sporty enough to rock at the gym, and whilst there, timer and stopwatch are essential functions to make use of.

Let’s talk more about the connectivity between your smartphone and the watch. How often do you have your phone out of sight, possibly on vibrate and miss calls? If you’re connected, your watch will beep once to make you look, and will then indicate that someones trying to get in touch with you. So if you’re brunching away with you’re homies (I know it doesn’t sound like a very “bro” thing to do but just bare with me here) and you have your phone in the bag, but your girl wants to get in touch — just check the watch.

And to point out one more feature out of the many it has, know when you get email. We don’t want to check our phone every 5 minutes only to find our inbox empty. Once you receive a mail and it remains unread for a few minutes, it will push to the watch and let you know to check your phone. I myself get lost practicing on the piano quite frequently, and while that can be beautiful, at times you need to be reachable and respond quickly.

I hope I could spark your interest to at least check it out! I think this really brings the function back to the watch, and who’s to argue with that 😉
