Pastel Pink Perception

The look: Blazer – Marc By Marc Jacobs // Shirt – Marc By Marc Jacobs // Pants – H&M // Shoes – Marc Jacobs // Skull Bracelet – Tevin Vincent // Tri-Colored Bracelet – Tevin Vincent

This season, Marc By Marc Jacobs Men’s RTW is entering the Men’s market for the Resort 2013 collections early. For those of you who aren’t familiar with a general fashion lifecycle, here’s a very, very brief overview:

Obviously collections need to be designed way before the hit the floors, so they can be produced in-between – this happens with about one year head-time. Even before that, fabric manufacturers predict colors and fabrics that will be in trend, that will then be available to purchase for the designers. Once a collection is designed it undergoes and editing process, (hopefully) gets bought, and will be produced, so as to arrive on the floors when we consumers need and want it.

Market week means all the buyers from several retailer are coming in, and I help present the collection to the buyers. Needless to say, I have to represent Marc By Marc Jacobs, so this is me being, once again, almost entirely dressed in it. Our first appointment was Bloomingdales and it is always super interesting to see what stores will go for which styles.

What did I think was appropriate for this occasion? Starting out with the pastel pink Marc blazer. Awesome piece, which I was a little skeptical about at first but now am in love with. I knew I needed to combine it with nothing too crazy, so the rest of the colors are within a blue HUE. The short has a great fit, with white contrast trim and darker blue contrast buttons. The pants are neutral, but work with the blue, and have a superb slim fit to them. Topped off with my Marc Jacobs loafers, and Tevin Vincent bracelets, I felt confident enough to step in front of some of the people, that more or less run the contemporary menswear retail industry.

Remember that a lot of things that might seems crazy at first, can have a broader appeal if you know how to dress them down.
