Skulls. Studs. Leather. This and a lot more is what Philipp Plein is all about.
Born in Germany, he now lives and produces in Italy, and has taken a very Italian style of designing. A lot of his pieces are very “out there”, but he manages to stay within the possible – allow me to elaborate.
If you look at the pictures I took in the showroom Lisa and I were invited to last Saturday, I think you should see that yes, the pieces are very special, but they are still very wearable. I personally fell for his affinity for playing with new fabrics. The studs for example are a combination of materials that you won’t find with any other designer.
Philipp Plein offers a lot of “it-pieces”, that will definitely make you turn heads on the street, but in a good way. The “FUCK” leather varsity jacket was probably my favorite piece – I think it is very special and the patched letters on the back are obviously provocative, which I think is awesome every now and then. He has great leather details throughout the collection, the studs repeat themselves on sleeves, hoods, shoes and accessories and the neon yellow accents pop up here and there.
I think the collection is very cohesive and I encourage all of you to take a closer look on their website.
