Cycle for Survival is a national charity movement to beat rare cancers, and last Monday hundreds of supporters cycled on Times Square for its third annual Times Square Takeover — one of them was me 🙂 Basically, it was a spin class outside, led by instructors from Equinox, Cycle for Survival’s founding partner.

The energy during the ride was absolutely beautiful with rare cancer survivors, patients, Memorial Sloan Kettering doctors and caregivers riding together to make a difference. I lost my grandma to cancer almost a year ago, and it really felt like I was riding for her, making a difference for the people that are still currently battling cancer.

About 1.6 million Americans were diagnosed with cancer in the past year, and approximately half are battling a rare cancer. Together with Equinox and hundreds of thousands of supporters across the country, the movement has raised more than $75 million for research. 100 percent of the money raised from Cycle for Survival events supports rare cancer research led by Memorial Sloan Kettering, which owns and operates Cycle for Survival. Pretty amazing don’t you think? If you have anybody in your family affected by cancer, give this a look — I think it can give you a ton of energy to keep fighting!!
