The retail industry changes on a daily basis. One of the most significant trends that we’ve seen in the past few years, and that you’ve most likely played a part in, is the increase in online-shopping. It’s not like we don’t go out to stores anymore, no one can take away that feeling of trying something on, or the mere enjoyment of window-shopping. Yet all these stores were facing the issue that people would, at the end of their expedition, turn to digital channels and buy online. A company that I am personally very impressed with from a business-standpoint is Bonobos, and instead of complaining about the issue of this trend called “showrooming”, they embraced it and created the Bonobos Guideshop:

People come in and get all the benefits of a brick-and-mortar experience, such as great customer service, the ability to get a feel for the fabric, and most importantly to try clothes on. Once they’ve found the right pieces, they put in an online order, and (for me it was) about two days later, you got your new gear. Granted, this won’t satisfy those who shop for an event in 2 hours, nor a person without any patience whatsoever, but it does tackle three major issues people had and still are having: fit, feel and service. I’m a big fan, and am happy to have been able to experience the process in person now, after I’ve studied the company a lot in school.

All these technicalities aside, they offer amazing men’s fashion. The showroom looked stunning when I dropped by, and I immediately fell for many of the pieces they had on display. I decided to go with a grey pair of chinos (which are the basis on which the company had started a few years back), and a classic grey and white gingham shirt. The reasons I went for less color for the shirt and pants, is because of this gorgeous yellow-green knit sweater. The seam across the chest gives it a little something special, and in combination with color and fabric, this guy’s a superstar. I topped it off with a broken herringbone twill coat from Express, and since the whole look ended up feeling a little more “hipster” I went with classic Clark’s that I haven’t worn in forever, and used a backpack as a tote — because why not. So take a look at Bonobos, and if you ever have the opportunity to check out a store in person, don’t miss out and go in, it’s definitely worth it!
